East Texas Treasure Map: Where to Find the Good Stuff

There are so many places to find great antiques, art and collectibles in East Texas. This is just the tip of the ice burg, but we hope you have fun mapping out a route to find these and more treasures on a days drive around East Texas.


Oil Boom Artifacts at Gladewater Museum
There are many fine museums in East Texas that feature exhibits about the oil boom days, but if your looking for a complete depiction of what happened before and after the boom, you must visit the Gladewater Museum Saturdays between 10a and 4p. Admission is free, but donations are appreciated.



Garden Variety at Fancy’s Run
The Sunbonnet, located in the back garden at Fancy’s Run in Tyler, gives new life to old lamps, fans, and windows by recycling them into completely unique garden and home décor.



Animal Oddities at Lee’s Good Stuff
Taxidermy is an art form that takes on an even bigger flair with hand-painted skull and horn sets and other interesting pieces. Amidst the stuffed animals at Lee’s Good Stuff in Flint, you’ll find antique toys, fishing lures, glassware, furniture and much more.


Amish Primitives at Saxon Auctions
Carriages, butter churns, hand-crafted furniture and primitives are brought to Texas from Amish country by Saxon and Associates and sold to the highest bidder at their weekly antiques auction, Saturday nights at 6:30 in Big Sandy.


Vintage Friction Cars at Moore Than Imagined
Toy collectors are going crazy for vintage friction cars and Moore Than Imagined in Tyler has a good stock of them for sale at reasonable prices. You’ll also find antiques, collectibles, glass, art, jewelry and a massive selection of Ce Ce Caldwell’s chalk and clay paints and accessories.


Antique Hunt Cabinets at Wendy’s Mystery Box
Hunt Cabinets are being used by decorators for everything from China and barware to guns. These large pieces are striking. Wendy’s Mystery Box in Gladewater has quite a few among the other antiques, art and collectibles within their special shop. You never know what treasures await you.
